Pro-Palestinian Protesters Criticize German Envoy for Civil Rights Remarks
Pro-Palestine Protesters Disrupt Speech at Lahore Civil Rights Conference
LAHORE - A passionate display of support for Palestine by young attendees briefly overshadowed a speech by German Ambassador Alfred Grannas at a major civil rights conference in Lahore.
The 5th Asma Jahangir Conference, themed "People's Mandate: Protecting Civil Rights in South Asia," brought together prominent figures and diplomats, including Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and Senior Supreme Court Judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
The conference, organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), witnessed a lively interruption during Ambassador Grannas' address. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators expressed their solidarity with Gaza, temporarily halting the speech.
